On the face of it, it initially looks genuine, with full ownership with the use of “I” and “my” pronouns throughout. However, you make a number of valid observations I had not initially seen. The mixed tenses, the distancing from the violence and telling us what he would “like” to do. Also notable was an absence of any comment/apology to his wife or family. I agree that this will have been through the hands and eyes of many people given an investigation has been launched, but I have come away feeling that this was not much more than a script/acceptance speech. What an awful way to end what should have been an amazing night.

Well, he oscillates between preaching and half-apologizing. The guy who self-styles as "the man as a leader of the family" (research his vomit-inducing philosophy of life, if you have the stomach for it - he ain't the laid back guy he's trying to portray), failed miserably in all regards.

He should feel shame and embarrassment. It isn't there. It's the bare minimum of an apology to save his multi-million dollar career. And he got a standing ovation a few minutes later! Talk about mixed messages.

I disliked him since I realized what a d*** he is. I hope he gets charged. He should be. This is unacceptable and should end his career. Does he have Alec Baldwin's phone number? Let those guys get together and commiserate.
