1. It is addressed to Gabby, but he abandons that in the second paragraph in favor of addressing a wider audience. Who is his intended audience?

2. He is trying to sell a very unbelievable story. To whom and why?

I have killed myself by this creek in the hopes that animals may tear me apart. That it may make some of her family happy.

But he hadn't when he was writing this.

It seems to be a very long suicide not, and very self-serving.

It is a fact that he didn't kill himself immediately afterwards, but drove across the country to his parents. What happened there that convinced him this was his best way out? Did he write the note on his own initative or was he prompted?

IDK. There is so much convincing language, storytelling. Are these really the last thoughts of a man shortly before shooting himself?

A short update: having studied this more, I’m still certain that Gabby was cold but probably post death.
